OnePlanet is a socially responsible movement that spans across all Morguard shopping centres. To enhance this initiative, there was a contest, promotions and retail participation, and community outreach. There was a trivia contest across the shopping malls to encourage donations. We partnered with Canada Lions Eyeglass recycling Centre (CLERC) for eye-glass collection as well as Diabetes Canada, H&M and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBS) of Ottawa and The Common Table for a textile drive initiative. We diverted over 16,000 pounds of textiles from landfills.
Due to these activations:
- Over 7,600 pounds of textiles were diverted from landfills specific to the family cluster
- 9,400 pounds of textiles were diverted from landfills specific to the urban and convenience cluster
- Total of 16,000 pounds of textiles diverted from landfills
- 5.46 T of carbon abated
- 1.48 KL of water was saved
- 250 mature trees were planted
- 8,198 pairs of eyeglasses were collected across Morguard shopping malls
